Public Meeting January 7

On October 17, 2018, the use of cannabis became legal in Canada.  In Ontario, cannabis can only be purchased from the online Ontario Cannabis Store.  Retail outlets (storefronts) will be permitted effective April 1, 2019 through a tightly regulated licensing process by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.  Municipalities that permit retail establishments in their communities will be provided additional government funding.  Municipalities that choose not to permit retail outlets in their municipalities must make that decision prior to January 22, 2019.

Cannabis can be harmful. However, private cannabis retail outlets create jobs, increase local investment in our communities, and provide local access to safe legal cannabis. This is an important decision and that’s why we need your feedback!  Please complete the survey below and have your say!
