Ice Huts

All ice huts must be registered with the Ministry of Natural Resources

Registration is free and the contact number for the MNR in Midhurst is 705-725-7500 or toll free at the main office in Peterborough 1-800-667-1940. Once registered, an ice fishing hut can be used anywhere in Ontario. Please note, ice hut registration numbers must be at least 6.3 cm (2.5 in.) in height and clearly displayed on the outside of the hut.

All Ice Huts must be removed from the Collingwood Harbour no later than March 15th

Please respect our environment and public harbour in not littering by adhering to proper removal of all ice huts. It is an offence under the Public Lands Act governed by the Ministry of Natural Resources to leave an ice hut out after ice break up regardless of whether registration and removal dates apply.

In addition, please note the storage of Ice Huts is prohibited on Town of Collingwood property. Any huts left on Municipal Property will be removed at the owner’s expense by March 31st.
