Election 2018 - Information for Voters

Monday, October 22, 2018 is election day for municipalities and school boards across Ontario. This election includes the election of Collingwood Council including the position of Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and seven Councillors, as well as school board trustees. A full list of candidates is available at www.collingwood.ca/election/candidate-list.
 
New this election, voters will cast their ballot using the Internet or Telephone.  These methods provide flexibility, which allows for a longer voting period than traditional voting. It is also more convenient, more accessible, better enables electors to exercise their right to vote, and results are available sooner than the previous vote by mail voting system, with complete accuracy. Voting will open at 10:00 a.m. on October 12 and run until 8:00 p.m. on October 22, 2018.

Are you on the Voters' List?

Haven't received a Voter Information Letter yet for the 2018 Municipal and School Board Election? Visit us at Town Hall or the Voter Help Centre to get yourself add to the Voters' List. To register, you are required to provide a form of idetification that includes your name and Collingwood address. For a full list of acceptable identification, please click here: Identification

  • Friday, October 12 (10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.)

  • Saturday, October 20 (10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.)
  • Sunday, October 21 (1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.)
  • Election Day - Monday, October 22 (8:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.)

How does my name get on the Voters' List? The Voters' List is provided by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) to each municipality in Ontario for upcoming municipal elections. MPAC receives data from property tax information, vital statistics, federal and provicial voters' lists and more. To remove someone from the Voters’ List, contact Clerk Services at election@collingwood.ca or 705-445-1030 between September 1 and October 22, 2018.
