A meeting of Council was held Monday April 7, 2014 in the Council Chambers, Town Hall, Collingwood commencing at 5:00pm.

Mayor Cooper requested staff forward the request to COLLUS PowerStream to review and draft an appropriate response for Council to consider.

P2014-13 Application for Tree Removal Permit (File P11214); 7624 and 7618 Poplar Sideroad

THAT Staff Report P2014-13, recommending Council support granting a Tree Cutting Permit for the subject lands owned by QSR Holdings Inc., prior to site plan approval, be hereby approved with the following conditions attached:
 - The installation of appropriate sedimentation and erosion control measures along the perimeter of the site;
 - Existing trees immediately adjacent to the internal eastern and northern property boundary of the site will remain to provide a buffer; and
 - An existing cedar hedge along the western property boundary of 7624 Poplar Sideroad will be identified as being outside the tree removal and stockpiling area.

PRC2014-06 Tall Ship Events 2014

THAT Staff Report PRC2014-06, recommending Council provide direction on the two tall ship hosting opportunities presented, be received;
 
AND FURTHER THAT Council request Staff pursue the tall ship hosting proposal provided by Schooner Liana’s Ransom.

THAT Staff Report PRC2014-07, recommending Council award the purchase of one (1) Kubota tractor to Earth Power Tractors and Equipment, Stayner, ON for the total purchase price of $52,500 plus applicable taxes, be approved.

THAT By-law No. 2014-027, being a By-law to close a highway within the Town of Collingwood and authorize the sale of land through the execution of a Purchase and Sale Agreement, be enacted and passed this 7th day of April, 2014. (Per Staff Report C2014-02 presented to Council March 3, 2014)

OTHER BUSINESS
  • Mayor Cooper attended the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Day last week where items including climate change and municipal adaptation, shoreline protection planning and access, fluctuating  water levels, nutrients in the great lakes, and energy transportation in the great lakes and St. Lawrence basin were discussed and brought to the attention of various Ministers.
  • Mayor Cooper informed Council and staff of a request to participate in the cleanup at Harbour View Park on April 22, Earth Day.
