A meeting of the Corporate and Community Services Standing Committee will be held Monday May 2, 2016 in Community Rooms B & C, Library/Municipal Offices, 55 Ste. Marie Street, Collingwood commencing at 5:00pm.

1. CALL STANDING COMMITTEE TO ORDER
 
2.  ADOPTION OF AGENDA
  • THAT the content of the Corporate and Community Services Standing Committee Agenda for April 4, 2016 be adopted as presented.
3. BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE PREVIOUS MEETING (April 4, 2016)

  • THAT the Corporate and Community Services Standing Committee receive and refer the following minutes to the next regular meeting of Council:
a)    Downtown Collingwood Board of Management BIA minutes, April 14, 2016 
b)    Trails Advisory Committee minutes, April 14,2016
c)    Accessibility Advisory Committee minutes, April 19, 2016 
d)    Museum Advisory Committee minutes, April 21, 2016 
 
7. STAFF REPORTS
 
C2016-05        Sunset Point Park: Parking concerns and paid parking 
 
RECOMMENDING THAT the Corporate and Community Services Standing Committee support and refer the following Staff Report to the next regular meeting of Council:
 
Staff Recommendation: THAT Corporate and Community Services Standing Committee recommend Council direct as follows:
- Request Staff (By-law, PRC, and Public Works) to further investigate and monitor the parking at Sunset Point Park during 2016, and report back to Council prior to the 2017 budget deliberations; and
- Direct information collected be provided to the consultants during the Waterfront Master Plan Process; and
- That Council enact and pass a by-law to prohibit bus parking in the area of Sunset Point Park.
 
PRC2016-08a  Public artwork tribute to Barbara Weider 
 
RECOMMENDING THAT the Corporate and Community Services Standing Committee support and refer the following Staff Report to the next regular meeting of Council:
 
Staff Recommendation: THAT Council either:
a. Approve the location of the artwork tribute to Barbara Weider as preferred by the project proponents;
 
OR,
 
b. Not approve the location of the artwork tribute to Barbara Weider as preferred by the project proponents, based on the concerns discovered during the public consultation process, with direction to Town staff to work with the project proponent to seek an alternative location.

  • Sister City Committees discussion/update
     
  • Motion re: Consent Item A.4 from Council meeting of April 25, 2016
THAT the Corporate & Community Services Standing Committee receive Consent Item A.4 from the Council meeting of April 25, 2016, with respect to support for Demonstration Schools;
 
AND FURTHER THAT the Committee support the importance in principle of these institutions for students with varying learning abilities and request the Ministry carefully consider the effects of any changes with this educational opportunity and impact on the students and families that depend on these schools.
