Position Summary:
Collection Maintenance Assistants support the Library by shelving books/materials and shelf reading to maintain the order and neatness of collections housed on Library shelves.  This function assists the Library by keeping shelves in good order, making it easier for staff and patrons to find and use materials.
 
Experience and Qualifications
  1. Completion of a minimum of one (1) year of secondary education.  Prefer some work experience with customer service. Previous library experience an asset.
  2. Detail oriented with the ability to read and alphabetize library materials according to established library procedures (Dewey Decimal and other library filing systems). 
  3. Ability to operate library technology systems, including computer and combination photocopier / fax.  Familiar with Microsoft Office products.
  4. Ability to manage time effectively and efficiently.
  5. Ability to demonstrate tact and discretion in handling matters of a confidential nature and to maintain confidentiality.  Familiarity with the Municipal Freedom of Information & Protection of Privacy Act.  Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment.
  6. Possess standard first aid and CPR/AED as well as a Police Information Check with results satisfactory to the Employer.
