General Qualifications:

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Many positions require as a minimum a Class “G” driver’s licence in good standing
  • In possession of a Social Insurance Number (card) at time of hire
  • Must be available to start work in Spring 2018 and be available as indicated on job posting; Seasonal positions require availability into the autumn months
  • May need to be available for evening, weekend and holiday shifts
  • Successful candidates must provide an original Police Information Check; some positions will require a Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR/AED Level C certificate
  • Ability to work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, applicable legislation, regulations, statutes and departmental policies/procedures/practices and operational guidelines.
  • Candidates who held a seasonal or student position in 2017 that wish to return for 2018 must re-apply and will be considered if they received a favourable re-hire status on their end of season performance evaluation (will be verified at time of consideration)
Qualifications for student/summer job types:
  • Currently enrolled full-time in a secondary, post-secondary or other educational institution
  • Returning to secondary, post-secondary or other educational institution on a full-time basis in the upcoming fall term
  • Meet any other qualifications outlined in the grand funding (will be verified once funding approval is received)
Some Student positions are dependent upon funding and the successful candidate must meet the following eligibility criteria as stated in the grant agreement, such as:
            (a)        be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
            (b)        registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year;
            (c)        intending to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year;
(d)        a student in a secondary, post-secondary, CEGEP (Quebec only), vocational or technical program;
(e)        a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (foreign students are not eligible) and;
(f)        legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations
