Position Summary:
Assist in the preparation, execution, and supervision of all sailing-related programs.  In the absence of the Community Recreation Manager, responsible for the direct supervision of the sailing school team.  Perform regular instructional and equipment maintenance duties.
 
Experience and Qualifications:
1. OSSD or equivalent plus currently certified in CANSail Instructor 3 & 4.
2. Valid Standard First Aid and CPR/AED Level C certificate
3. Hold a Sail Canada Coach Boat Safety certification or equivalent.
4. Valid Pleasure Craft Operator’s Card.
5. Registered and paid instructor dues with SailCanada for current year.
6. Maintain ‘Certified’ status with Canada’s National Coach Certification Program (NCCP).
7. Completion of CANSail Instructor Modules: Program Manager, Wet Feet, Spinnaker & Trapeze, or Coach Athletes with a Disability an asset.
8. VHS radio license an asset.
9. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
10. Understand and effectively carry out oral and written instruction.
11. Deal effectively with the public and staff.
12. Able to perform duties with a minimum of supervision.
13. Comfortable with teaching and supervising young students (age 8 and older).
14. Possess the ability to maintain docks and surrounding areas in a neat and orderly manner.
15. Thorough knowledge of loading boats onto and unloading boats off of a trailer.
16. Thorough knowledge of 420 sailing.  Sound knowledge of dinghy repair and maintenance an asset
17. Sound knowledge of current sailing techniques and departmental procedures.  Working knowledge of the Town of Collingwood’s policies, procedures and standards.
18. Considerable knowledge of applicable safety regulations.
19. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Checklick.  Working knowledge of CLASS an asset.
20. Vulnerable Sector check with results satisfactory to the Town.
