Salary range: $54,891.20 to 66,684.80 per year ($26.39 to $32.06 per hour) (2018 rates)
Hours of work: 40 hours per week on a rotating shift schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends and holidays; flexibility in scheduling is required to switch shifts, respond to urgent matters or work overtime as necessary

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Recreation Facilities, Facilities Operators are responsible for performing custodial functions, building and equipment maintenance and minor repair, ice maintenance, responding to queries and problems, opening and closing functions, ensuring the facility is clean and safe for users, and for providing exceptional customer service related to recreation facilities   Main duties and responsibilities include custodial duties, maintenance, guidance and training of staff, and other duties.
Experience and Qualifications:
1. OSSD, or equivalent, combined with three (3) years of janitorial and/or minor building maintenance, refrigeration plant and/or general machine operation experience; an appreciation for arena sports would be an asset.
2. Certified Ice Technician, or willingness and ability to obtain such certification; certification in Refrigeration Class “B” would be an asset.  Training in propane cylinder exchange, WHMIS, Confined Space Entry, ladder and lift device.
3. Ability to operate ice resurfacing machine and ice edger.
4. Experience in painting, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and structural repairs.
5. Working knowledge of ice maintenance and equipment operation, Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, departmental policies and procedures, chemical water treatment testing, Windows Microsoft Office applications, and office equipment.
6. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, ability to work constructively in a team environment or act independently as required, and to deal effectively and courteously in all aspects of the position.
7. Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position and wearing the required PPE (e.g., respirator, harness, etc.).
8. Valid Class ‘G’ Driver’s Licence in good standing and current Driver’s Abstract with results satisfactory to the Employer.  Ability and willingness to travel within the community and out of town as required.
9. Possess Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (Level 2) with results satisfactory to the Employer and a valid standard first aid and CPR/AED Level “C” certificate.
