COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS
  • Graffiti Paint Out Award
Paula Lehr, Downtown Revitalization Coordinator and Margot Nicholson-Trott presented the details of their Graffiti Paint Out Initiative that recently won an award at the Ontario Business Improvement Area Association, as nominated by the Provincial Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Representative Cheryl Govier.  Mayor Cooper was presented with the “Graffiti Paint Out” award from the Downtown Revitalization Committee. 
  • Graffiti Eradication Strategy
Officer Pierre Gauthier, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Gang Issues Coordinator, provided a brief presentation to Council on the graffiti “tags”, strategies and training provided through the OPP for graffiti eradication. 
  • Council reported on various community events they had attended and announced upcoming events. 
  • Clerk Almas introduced Ms. Tara Warder, Acting Deputy Clerk whom will be taking over the duties of Deputy Clerk Dahl during her absence.   
DEPUTATION
  • Petition re: The future of Connaught School (125 Napier Street)
Annette Snowdon of the East Ward / Connaught Citizens’ Committee presented a petition and presentation to Council to request that Town Council ensure the preservation and restoration of the former Connaught School at 125 Napier Street, Collingwood.

THAT Council approve the BIA’s request to use 57 parking spots annually in the Pine Street municipal parking lot for the Farmer’s Market taking place every Saturday from Victoria Day weekend to Thanksgiving weekend; and further waive the associated fee ($4,788.00) for the partial parking lot closure as provided in the Fees and Service Charges By-law No. 2009-124.

THAT Staff Report FS2011-01, recommending that Council authorizes the Fire Department to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding to participate in the Simcoe County Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Material Program, be approved.

C2011-09        RFP for Realtor Services

THAT Council receives Staff Report C2011-09; and further that Council herein direct staff to proceed with disposing surplus municipal property including the south servicing area lots through the services of a realtor;
 
AND FURTHER THAT Council request the assistance of the Georgian Triangle Real Estate Board to distribute our “Request For Proposal for Realty Services” solely to their membership to seek interested brokers/realtors to market and sell our respective surplus properties.

** Councillors Hull and Gardhouse removed themselves from the table and did not participate in the vote or discussion on the above noted matter with respect to their previously declared conflict.
 
C2011-10        Naming of Trails – Shipyards/Berm

THAT Staff Report C2011-10, recommending that Council support the naming of the trail that runs north-south along the west side of North Maple Street, north of First Street as the “North Maple Street Trail” and the trails that run along the berm located between North Maple Street and the Wastewater Treatment Plant as “Dunbar’s Lookout Trail” be approved.

COUNTY REPORT
Deputy Mayor Lloyd provided an update with respect to changes and discussions occurring with waste management, integrating municipal trails within the County.
