A meeting of Council was held Monday April 30, 2012 in the Council Chambers, Town Hall, Collingwood commencing at 5:00pm.

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS
  • Council reported on various community events they had attended and announced upcoming events.
DEPUTATION
  • Canadian Forces Upcoming Military Exercise Update and Request Permission for the use of Municipal Property
Captain Carl McCann and MWO Parsons addressed Council on an upcoming military exercise in May, called Spartan Bear II, and requested permission to use specific municipal properties during the exercise. The purpose of the exercise is to train soldiers for future high readiness tasks. There will be approximately 700 soldiers and 300 military vehicles around the Town of Collingwood between the dates of May 7th and May 17th, 2012.

THAT Council authorize staff to execute an agreement with the Canadian Forces for the use of Fisher Field, the Old Village neighbourhood park and the dump site on Incinerator Road for the Spartan Bear II military exercise in May 2012;
 
AND FURTHER THAT Council direct staff to work with the appropriate military personnel to confirm logistics.

THAT the Airport Service Board minutes of April 11th, 2012be hereby received and the recommendations contained herein be approved:
Recommendations
i)     THAT the Collingwood Regional Airport Services Board recommends to Collingwood Council that it recognize the virtues of TP312 and in turn urges the Township of Clearview to amend its zoning by-law to incorporate Transport Canada land use designation / regulation TP312 to provide appropriate setbacks (including height) from obstacles that could impact the safe take off or landing of aircraft at the Collingwood Regional Airport.

THAT Staff Report C2012-04 be received, recommending Council permit domesticated potbellied pigs in residential areas in the Town of Collingwood, to a maximum of two (2) per dwelling;
 
AND FURTHER THAT potbellied pigs shall be registered with the Town, confirming the animal has been spayed or neutered.
