When Do I Not Need A Building Permit?
A building permit is not required for a detached accessory building that is l0 m2 (108 sq.ft.) in area or less. A building permit is not required for:
- exterior painting*
- kitchen or bathroom cupboards
- landscaping
- tool shed (10 m2 (108 sq.ft.) or less) *
- roof shingling
- eavestroughing*
- damp-proofing basement
- minor repair to bricks or blocks*
- kitchen or bathroom cupboards
* except if the property is designated under the Heritage Act NOTE: Town of Collingwood Zoning By-laws must still be adhered to regardless of whether a building permit is required or not.
