PRC Grants & Bursaries

The Parks, Recreation and Culture Department offers the following financial assistance programs and bursaries. 

In-Kind Facility Grant Program

The Town of Collingwood offers in-kind (non cash) facility grants to groups and organizations providing a specific event to the general public, intended for the common good of Collingwood residents. Requests for support can be submitted at any time throughout the year however, once the upper dollar limit for in-kind requests has been reached, no further support will be available.

Community Recreation & Culture Grant Program

Community Recreation & Culture Grant (CRCG) funds are available to not-for-profit, charitable or volunteer-based organizations, groups, events or programs that are active in Collingwood. The CRCG Program is based on the mandate for the Parks, Recreation and Culture (PRC) Department: To enhance quality of life and promote healthy living in Collingwood, by providing access to recreational, cultural and active living opportunities. 

The CRCG Program prioritizes support for:

·        Youth participation and engagement in recreation and the arts

·        The reduction or elimination of financial barriers for participation in recreation, sport or arts activities

·        (For special event applicants) initiatives that take place at The Shipyards Ampitheatre.

The CRCG Program will consider funding new projects or initiatives, ongoing or returning initiatives that foster community engagement, or programs of established organizations that have a demonstrated history and capacity to achieve the PRC mandate.

Application Process

Applicants must contact PRC to discuss their initiative before submitting an application. 

Applications are due Monday, October 30, 2017 at 4:00 p.m.  Click here to download the application. 

Eligible applications are reviewed by a Grant Review Team and applicants are required to attend an interview.

Recommendations for CRCG funding are reviewed by Council during 2018 Council Budget deliberations.  

Grant Review Teams

A Grant Review Team comprised of volunteer community members and staff evaluate each community grant submission. Volunteer GRT members have recreation and community experiences, energy and a commitment to promoting healthy living and enhancing the quality of life in Collingwood.

Final Report

All successful grant recipients must submit a final report before September 28, 2018. The report is available by selecting CRCG Final Report Form at the bottom of this page.

PRC Bursary Programs

The Town of Collingwood Parks, Recreation, & Culture Department is pleased to provide 2 unique bursary programs:  1991 Ontario Winter Games Bursary and 2008 Ontario Paralympic Winter Championship Legacy Grant. 

Applications forms for 2016 are now posted.  The deadline will be Friday, August 26th, 2016.

1991 Ontario Winter Games Bursary - **FINAL APPLICATION YEAR**

The Town of Collingwood and the City of Barrie were proud to co-host the Ontario Winter Games - March 5 -12, 1991.  The competition's theme, "THE WILL TO BE THE BEST", demonstrated the athletes, coaches and volunteers' dedication to mastering their sport while recognizing the value of leadership skills as an integral part of competition.

This bursary is intended to recognize the contributions made by athletes and/or coaches of amateur sport as well as acknowledge the value of volunteer commitment and skills. Volunteers who devote their time and talent to support community based sports organizations may also be nominated to receive this bursary.

The Ontario Winter Games Bursary will assist students to continue with their post-secondary education.

2008 Ontario Paralympic Winter Championship Legacy Grant

In alignment with ParaSport Ontario, this program shall follow and foster the goals of the 2008 Ontario Paralympic Winter Championships which were held in Collingwood and area February 15 – 18, 2008.  In particular, this grant shall strive to:

  • increase opportunities for the development of athletes with a disability to pursue competitive goals and achieve their personal potential
  • develop, promote and enhance amateur sport at the community level

Surplus funds are not to be used for the general purposes or operating costs of any municipality.


Tips for completing a PDF Fillable Form

The forms are a PDF Fillable Form compatible with the free Adobe Reader XI or any full Adobe Acrobat progams. When saving electronic form: Choose file, save as and select PDF. Save to your own computer files. 

Some users utilizing older Adobe Reader progams have reported issues with saving the document to their desktop, if you encounter difficulties you may try one of the troubleshooting options below:

1.     Install free Adobe Reader XI

2.     Utilize a separate document to type up your responses and once complete, cut & paste information into the application form, print and submit a hard copy.
