Collingwood to Celebrate Canada Day with Peak to Shore and Porch Parties

Normally, Blue Mountain Village, the Town of Collingwood, and the Town of the Blue Mountains would each have a slate of Canada Day events to bring people together in their communities. In our new normal, this isn’t possible. But everyone sees the need for a celebration. So, with support from BruceGreySimcoe and the Province of Ontario, the three communities are getting together to bring you the next best thing - Canada Day from Peak to Shore - a safe, pandemic-defying, life-affirming celebration, and tribute to our essential workers and everyday heroes.
Recognizing change as the only constant in today’s reality, Patti Kendall, Director Marketing & Events for the Blue Mountain Village Association, says different will be a good thing. “It won’t be our typical Canada Day Celebration or our typical Peak To Shore music fest,” says Kendall, “but we promise to entertain you in the safety of your homes with great acts performing from some of the most beautiful destinations in our region.”
Without a live audience, the show will be responsibly hosted by The Peak FM’s John Eaton & Melanie Case and live-streamed directly to your home from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, July 1 at www.peaktoshore.ca. While the complete line-up is still to be announced - who doesn’t love a surprise? - expect an amazing showcase of the people and places of South Georgian Bay and awesome music from fan favourites including Pat Robitaille, The Leynes Brothers, Victoria Yeh, Amanda Journey, Mike McCarthy Band, and Singing Soldiers.
Livestreaming on July 1 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Peak to Shore celebrations can be enjoyed from the comfort of people’s homes, or even better, from their front porches!
Prep for your Porch Party
Did someone say PORCH PARTY? Oh yeah! Collingwood residents will be encouraged to get their porch all decked out with Canada Day celebrations, crack open their favourite local beverage, enjoy some great food and get ready to “toast” with neighbours across the street.
Shop Local
www.CollingwoodCommons.com was created with the sole purpose to support the incredible local retailers. In the coming days, local retailers will be submitting their Canada Day themed products to Collingwood Commons, so you can easily shop local for your porch party decorations, food favourites, and local beverages.

Visit the Town of Collingwood’s RallyPoint (www.collingwood.ca/RallyPoint) and explore activity ideas and resources for all ages to support your Canada Day celebrations. Add active play to your day and the entire Canada Day week.
Watch the Big Show

While celebrating July 1 is important every year, it takes on increased significance in 2020. As Mel Milanovic, Acting Director Parks, Recreation & Culture for the Town of Collingwood says, “It’s important for us to come together as a community to celebrate Canada Day, support each other, and pay tribute to our front-line workers and everyday heroes. This show will have elements of each and be fun for the whole family.”
Gather the family for your porch party and get ready to celebrate six feet from your neighbours. From Peak to Shore, together and apart this Canada Day, join this virtual celebration of community and creativity. Find out how to join the porch party celebrations at www.collingwood.ca/canadaday
