Collingwood’s Poet Laureate, Day Merrill, is looking to provide some poetic nourishment for the community with a project called 30 Loaves - Bread for the Journey. In recognition of National Poetry Month this April, Day will be posting a poem a day throughout the month on, a section of the Town’s website dedicated to poetry and spoken word. The project titled 30 Loaves - Bread for the Journey started off with a poem by Day and continues daily with other poems by Canadian poets.

While at home, the project invites people to open up to a world of poetry and take a look into the hearts and minds of some great Canadian poets. “I’m a big believer in the power of poetry, so I’m delighted to provide poetic “daily bread” for our community during these challenging times. Anyone who has a favourite or original poem they would like to share, can send it to me at

In addition to Day’s monthly blog called Symbol & Drum, CollingWord also provides links to other people reciting poetry that you can listen to or view.
