Collingwood Downtown issues a Call for Artists for the Downtown Passageway Public Art Project

The Collingwood, Ontario Downtown Business Improvement Area (BIA) is seeking Canada-based artists
(including artist teams) to submit their credentials and interest to the first stage of a project for public
artwork to be installed in Collingwood’s Historic Downtown in 2023.
The completed commission will be part of a daily experience for residents and those working in the
neighbourhood and viewed by a wider audience of visitors and seasonal residents. The artwork is
expected to engage the community and visitors in Collingwood’s Downtown core and neighborhood,
serve as a memorable and welcoming landmark, and evoke a sense of place and source of pride for the
community.
Artists will be selected through a two-stage process. The first stage invites artists to submit their
credentials, examples of current and past art achievements and their approach to the project. Design
concepts are not required at this time. Two to three artists will be selected to move forward to stage
two and provide a concept and detailed design proposal. Artists at this stage will receive $2500 for the
preparation of their proposal and presentation to the Selection Team.
The total artwork budget is $200,000 and includes all fees to consult, collaborate, design, fabricate,
transport, install the artwork as well as insurance, travel and other incidental expenses.
Full project description and application form is available on the Town's website.
Submissions are due Wednesday, November 30, 4:00 p.m.
