Collingwood Museum to Offer Victorian Halloween Virtual Event

Join Collingwood Museum staff on October 29 at 7:00 p.m. to explore the spooky side of the Victorian era through a selection of macabre objects from the museum’s artifact collection. The Victorian Halloween event will be broadcast on Facebook Live, so you can enjoy from the comfort of your home.
Victorian culture is rich with imagery that we still associate with Halloween today. Whether it's haunted mansions, gruesome medical practices, gothic literature, or elaborate mourning rituals, many Victorian practices can be found in our favourite horror movies and Halloween traditions.
Have you ever seen a wreath made with human hair? Educational Programmer Elise Barr-Klouman will be featuring a hair wreath and discussing this very popular Victorian pastime. Tune in to the broadcast to learn more about this unsettling craft and to see other artifacts chosen by staff.
The Collingwood Museum is excited to continue its offering of virtual programming opportunities.
This event can be found on www.facebook.ca/collingwoodmuseum. No registration required.
