HOT TOPIC 1:
DETAILS ON PATIOS AND OTHER BUSINESSES SET TO OPEN FRIDAY

On Monday the Government announced restrictions are being eased in communities where it is safe to do so, and included in the list of public health unit areas allowed to move into Stage 2 is Simcoe Muskoka and Grey Bruce.  More than 10 different sectors have been permitted to open or expand operations in Collingwood, and limits on social gatherings have been increased from 5 to 10 people.  Full details on Stage 2 are available here.

Patio Openings
Town of Collingwood continues to make every effort to accommodate patios:

1)    Applications that have been submitted with valid insurance certificate where the patio configuration has not changed from 2019 may proceed with installations on Friday morning.  Those businesses who have submitted an application will be contacted by the Clerk’s office once the final patio opening details have been finalized. Note that street and sidewalk cleaning will be taking place in the downtown area prior to Friday so keeping sidewalks clear will ensure this work can happen as efficiently and effectively as possible.  Town staff are working closely with required Agencies and will be available on Friday to assist with inspections so that patios can be operational that day assuming they pass the inspection.
2)    If you are planning on completing an application, the form can be found on our website here.  Please upload your application online through the following link: Patio Permits
3)    If you have new design ideas that are currently not permitted in the existing by-law, please submit your drawings with dimensions at your earliest opportunity to ensure it is considered by Council on June 22.  Proposals can be emailed to Deputy Clerk Becky Dahl rdahl@collingwood.ca

Furthermore:
Sidewalk merchandising will currently be permitted using one rack against the building.
For businesses already licensed to sell alcohol, please review and follow this AGCO Information Bulletin
Additional opportunities for new patio, outdoor merchandising and street closure pilots are being brought to Council for consideration on June 22.

Tourism & Hospitality Business Support
Many of the sectors that have been permitted to open starting this Friday are associated with Tourism and Hospitality.  The South Georgian Bay Tourism Association is working closely with the regional municipalities to provide safety protocols and can provide advice and resources on best practices.  More specifics available here.
