Hot Topic 1:
Let the Town Know Your Business Matters
Every year the Town conducts a survey of the business community. This year is perhaps more important than ever given what’s happened and the economic recovery efforts the Town is implementing to help your business. But the Town needs to know if these efforts are working and what your longer term perspective on business in Collingwood is so it can continue making the right kinds of investments.
It takes less than 7 minutes to complete so please take the time to do the survey now or before July 14.
Hot Topic 2:
Economic Recovery Task Force Recommendations Turn Into Action
On June 15, Town of Collingwood Council approved the recommendation developed by the 14-person Collingwood Economic Support & Recovery Taskforce. This Task Force of private and public sector leaders worked tirelessly with Town Staff to develop 6 Item Action Plan within 8 weeks.
These recommendations are rapidly turning to action based on the Plan Summary the Town just finalized as part of a recent media release.
Key initiatives already in motion include:
• The release of a 7 Step Checklist to help businesses understand the services and support available to them through the local Business Development Centre
• Extension and expansion of the Digital Service Squad, which includes a service that helps businesses open up online stores for free
• Ensuring businesses have access to more relevant recovery information, including access to a webinar library.
Recent additions to this library include:
1. Covid-19 Workplace and Business Safety in Simcoe Muskoka (Dr Gardner from the health unit provides a very up-to-date perspective on what measures are being put in place and how businesses can leverage them for the safety of the employees and customers)
2. 5th Annual Georgian Bay Healthcare Wellness Research Innovation Day (Dr Lisi hosts global discussion with medical leaders from Italy, Mexico, and Toronto, with Dr Pearce then providing an immersive look at all the work that has been done at CGMH to keep the community safe)
