Mayor Saunderson proclaims January 2020 as “Crime Stoppers Month” in the Town of Collingwood.
Winter happens in Collingwood and embracing it is a Collingwood art form. Join friends and family at Central from Friday, January 24 to Sunday, January 26 when Collingwood turns into a snowy canvas for creativity, activity and connectivity. Central Park and the Collingwood Trails Network play host to daytime fun and nighttime magic including professional snow carving, children’s games, snowshoe treks, Rock the Rink moonlit skate, and Watchful Eyes flashlight-powered scavenger hunt.
The Town of Collingwood is inviting artists and artist collectives to submit their application for the design and execution of a site-specific, outdoor mural for the east facing wall of the Shipyards Medical Building at 28 Huron Street. A volunteer Public Art Committee of Collingwood residents established the process and concept for the artwork based on the Town’s public art policies and procedures. They are looking for the artwork to create excitement and interest in the community, enhance the space, and reflect a contemporary aesthetic of a vibrant and dynamic Collingwood.
The Town of Collingwood will celebrate International Women’s Day with two special events:
- A public flag raising on Thursday, March 5, 2020
- A Panel Discussion & Networking Social on Sunday, March 8, 2020
As per The Ontario Heritage Act, Section 29; 14, a, iii Notice is hereby made that the Council of the Corporation of Collingwood passed By-law No. 2019-083 during its regular meeting held December 16th, 2019 `The purpose of this by-law was to designate; 400 Maple Street as having Cultural Heritage Value and Interest under Section 29 of the Ontario Heritage Act.
Please take notice that Bus Transit in Collingwood will be delayed by up to 30 minutes throughout the day on Thursday, January 16 due to weather conditions. Riders should expect 30 minute delays. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
The Town of Collingwood is undergoing a review of its water and wastewater user rates. The purpose is to evaluate and gather the appropriate data to provide an updated rate structure that will support the needs of the community. Water and wastewater are self-funded utilities, meaning that they are non-tax supported operations. While it seems freshwater is plentiful in our municipality, we still must be financially and environmentally responsible water users and not take our freshwater asset (The Georgian Bay) for granted.
Please take notice that ALL regular programming (public skating, shinny programs, etc) at the Central Park Arena and the Outdoor Rink will be cancelled on Friday, January 17 and Saturday, January 18 due to the Rotary Club's annual Fours Hockey Tournament.
Please take notice that the Centennial Aquatic Centre will be closed from Saturday, January 18 at 12:00 PM to Monday, January 20 at 7:30 AM due to scheduled maintenance. Lessons scheduled for the morning of Saturday, January 18 will continue as scheduled. The Aquatic Centre will close at Noon. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
