NOTICE – Temporary Preventative Measures for Collingwood Transit Services

UPDATE (Monday, March 23): Due to preventative measures being taken to limit the spread of COVID-19 virus, effective Monday, March 23, 2020 Collingwood Transit will be operating its Sunday Schedule on all 7 days of the week. Temporary Schedules
Effective Friday, March 20, Collingwood and Blue Mountains Transit passengers are asked to board and exit buses using the back doors. Passengers with accessibility needs can continue to use the front doors for boarding and exiting, but are asked to limit their interactions and maintain physical separation from bus operators.
Collingwood Transit will not be accepting cash fares or paper transfers from passengers boarding at the back of the bus, and passengers will not be required to tap their transit passes at this time.
Only use the transit system for essential and necessary travel. Please exercise social distancing and self-isolation. Do not board the bus if you are experiencing symptoms such as cough, fever, or difficulty breathing.
This change is in place until April 5, 2020, and protects the health and safety of bus operators and the public.
To limit the spread of COVID-19, Collingwood Transit will:
- ensure increased sanitizing practices on all common touch points aboard buses and in the public washrooms at the transit station.
- deliver essential public transportation service across the Municipality with normal service hours and frequency.
- ask passengers to exercise social distance when seating themselves on the bus, including not sitting in seats directly behind operators
The Town continues to monitor the information released by the provincial Ministry of Health and other public health partners, including the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit.
If transit services hours or frequency change or are cancelled there will be notification on the Town of Collingwood website www.collingwood.ca. Please check daily as to the status of operations.
We encourage all transit riders to follow the recommendations of the local health service which can be found at http://www.simcoemuskokahealth.org/Promos/Novel-Coronavirus and practice habits and procedures for prevention of spread of the virus.
