Town of Collingwood Announces New Executive Director of Customer and Corporate Service

The Town of Collingwood is pleased to announce the appointment of Sonya Skinner as the Executive Director, Customer and Corporate Service, effective August 6, 2019.

After listening to input from people who live, work, and play in Collingwood, this new senior leadership position was created to continue to strengthen our ability to embrace a collaborative approach that encourages innovative ideas from across our municipality for exceptional and affordable municipal services.  

IT Services, Communications, Human Resources, and Fleet and Facilities divisions will report to the new Executive Director. In addition, Sonya will be looking at ways to enhance and measure enterprise-wide customer services, strengthen relationships between the Town and our provincial and federal partners, and build on the recently launched corporate-wide environmental initiatives.

Sonya Skinner is an experienced leader and has been the Chief Administrative Officer at Grey Sauble Conservation Authority since 2016. She is bringing valuable skills and experience to Collingwood from her broad and impressive career, including leadership of:

  • Service delivery transformations across over 20 business lines as the Director of Compliance Modernization for the Ministry of the Environment and for about $300M annually of provincial highways contracting,
  • Operational delivery as the head of Maintenance Contracts for all of Ontario highways, and
  • Better decision-making across five ministries including the Ministry of Education by integrating large amounts of government data.

Sonya is recognized internationally as a collaborative leader, speaker, and writer, and has a demonstrated commitment to proactive communication. Sonya is a Professional Engineer with a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, and moved to the Collingwood area eight years ago, attracted by its beauty and lifestyle.
