CAO Fareed Amin gives notice that he will be stepping down.

At the Town Council Meeting on Monday, February 24, 2020, it was announced that CAO Fareed Amin has decided to step down from his leadership role with the Town of Collingwood to focus on family and personal interests.

Mayor Brian Saunderson says, “On behalf of the entire Town, I would like to thank CAO Fareed Amin for his public service, leadership, and sage advice. Fareed has helped build a foundation of good governance and modernization for our community, including advancements in technology, fiscal responsibility, and environmental initiatives. We wish Fareed the best of luck with his growing family and on all of his future endeavours.”

CAO Amin began managing the Town of Collingwood in October of 2017. He has successfully guided the municipality through a number of major milestones, including asset sales, customer service excellence, and the prioritization of accountability and transparency.

CAO Fareed Amin adds, “Thank you to my Town of Collingwood colleagues. It was a real privilege to work with Council and Staff supporting a healthy, strong, and vibrant community that is preparing for future growth. Thank you also to Collingwood’s strong business community and our residents. I see continued success in economic development, and beyond, under the Town’s talented leadership team.”

Town of Collingwood Council will discuss and make decisions on next steps for Town management in the days and weeks ahead. Executive Director Sonya Skinner will be the Acting CAO while Council continues to engage Fareed for help and support on some significant initiatives.
