The Centennial Aquatic Centre is gearing up for registration for the Fall session of swim lessons beginning October 3rd at 7:00 a.m. As part of this Fall registration, the Parks, Recreation & Culture Department is launching its pilot Affordable Recreation Program with the goal of improving access to sport and recreation activities offered in Town facilities.

The Affordable Recreation Program is directed at individuals and households who face financial barriers to participating in sport and recreation programming, by providing fee assistance to Collingwood residents.

Eligible households can access a financial credit which may be directed towards subsidizing programs delivered by the Parks, Recreation & Culture Department including swim or public skate passes, swimming lessons, and Museum Day-camps as well as community recreation or minor sports delivered in Town owned recreation facilities.

Staff will work with community service providers to determine program eligibility.

“We believe participating in recreation and sports programs should be something that everyone can access regardless of income” says Michelle Findlay, Manager, Recreation Services.

Healthy active living is important for our physical and mental well-being. Recreation and sports programs offer a fun way to stay active and connect with others.
