The Town of Collingwood is excited to announce that the new Specialized Transit service being offered throughout the communities of Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, and Clearview Township, will officially launch in Collingwood on December 17, 2022.

The three municipalities will be working together within a joint contract to provide parallel accessible services across the Towns of Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, and Stayner. In Collingwood, this service will be replacing the current Red Cross service, and the Town subsidized portion of the Ace Cabs service. In order for Collingwood to honour existing contracts with these providers, the launch date was set later than Wasaga Beach and Clearview Townships.

TransitPLUS will be a door-to-door service serving residents of our community requiring accessible transportation. New riders who have not used the Red Cross service will be required to pre-register with their application by calling Landmark Bus at 705-446-1196 or emailing Reserve.ST@landmarkbus.com. Active Red Cross clients who are currently using the accessible services within Collingwood will not be required re-apply for TransitPLUS.

Any bookings that were pre-booked with Red Cross up to December 17, 2022, will be honoured and completed by the Red Cross.  The Town of Collingwood and Landmark Bus Lines are working closely with the Red Cross to ensure a seamless transition of services with no disruption to riders.  The Town of Collingwood has had an excellent professional working relationship with the Canadian Red Cross that has spanned nearly two decades.  The Red Cross will still be completing trips that require travel outside of the boundaries of Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, and Clearview Township.  Please continue to call 705-721-3313 to book rides out of area if needed.

The Town would also like to thank Ace Cabs for their efforts in providing services for the last 10 years within the community.  Navigating through the pandemic was not an easy task, and Ace was up for the challenge.   The service provided by Ace Cabs will continue to operate until December 19, 2022 when Council will consider a motion to extend services until January 6, 2023, thereby continuing the on-demand accessible taxi service during the transition to TransitPLUS.

TransitPLUS will operate the same hours as the Colltrans conventional transit in Collingwood, 7 days a week from 7:00 a.m. – 9: 00 p.m. Fare for adults will be $2.00 and Students and Seniors $1.50. Companions and Service Animals ride free with registered clients.

The regular Collingwood transit service, Colltrans, also includes fully wheelchair accessible, and low floor design buses for users.

Frequently asked questions, eligibility and booking requirements, and service standards are available on the transit page of the Town's website: https://www.collingwood.ca/public-transit.
