The Ontario government, in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health and other experts, has imposed a Provincewide Shutdown effective Saturday, December 26, 2020, at 12:01 a.m. On the advice of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, all Ontarians are advised to stay home as much as possible with trips outside the home limited to necessities such as food, medication, and supporting vulnerable community members. The current COVID-19 Response Framework will be paused during the Provincewide Shutdown and will last 28 days in Southern Ontario.

At the Monday, December 21 Council meeting, Town of Collingwood Council approved the 2021 Operating & Capital budgets. The Town of Collingwood periodically installs Infrared Trail Counters on the trail system to gauge their level of activity. The counters sense and detect the infrared wavelength that pedestrian and wheeled traffic emit and trigger a count as they pass by the sensor. These counters are placed at various Collingwood trail locations and may remain active for multiple years before they are repositioned. The information collected helps staff to adapt maintenance activities to match how many people are using each trail.

The Ontario government has announced that Simcoe Muskoka will be moving into Red - Control zone at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, December 14, 2020, under the province's colour-coded COVID-19 safety framework. The restrictions will remain in place for at least 28 days, after which the government will reassess public health measures to determine the zone status.
On Monday, December 14 the Collingwood Public Library will be altering their services due to the change is COVID zoning from the Provincial Government.
“Due to the change in regional zoning, we have decided to alter some of our services,” says Chief Executive Officer, Ken Haigh. “This is to ensure the safety of our patrons and staff in the coming weeks.”
This Christmas season all kids (big and small) will have an opportunity to visit with Santa in his big sleigh when he comes to downtown Collingwood on Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons.
