The third and final party identifying an expression of interest to run an Elvis-related event in Collingwood in 2020 has withdrawn their special event permit application, citing that they were unable to secure the talent required to run a successful event and that they were unable to secure an Elvis Presley Enterprises (EPE) competition licence for their desired weekend. To accommodate the three interested parties, the Town had put a hold on the rental of the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena for July 24 to 26. This hold will now be lifted allowing the space to return to the rentable inventory to be booked on its standard first come first served basis.
At the Town Council Meeting on Monday, February 24, 2020, it was announced that CAO Fareed Amin has decided to step down from his leadership role with the Town of Collingwood to focus on family and personal interests.

As part of the 2020 municipal budget proceedings, Collingwood Council approved the continuation of what had been a two-year theatre management pilot project. Renewed for an additional three years (pending annual budget approvals) the Town of Collingwood through the Parks, Recreation & Culture (PRC) Department will continue to manage the 100-seat black box Simcoe Street Theatre as tenants of 65 Simcoe Street, owned by Richard and Anke Lex.
The Town of Collingwood is offering an additional Public Swim time on Friday, February 21 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the Centennial Aquatic Centre. Regular admission fees and policy will be in effect. At the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena, there will be Shinny Hockey for High School aged kids from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM and for Elementary School aged kids from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. Admission for Shinny is $5 per person and full equipment is required.
