Frozen in Time Festival
Frozen in Time Festival – December 28 - 30, 2018
Enjoy free family fun at Collingwood’s Frozen in Time Festival, downtown Collingwood’s annual Ice Sculpture Celebration and Winter Wonderland Village. At the Winter Wonderland Village, gather around the crackling fire and enjoy the outdoor games including two street hockey rinks. Ice carvers will go head to head in a Battle of the Chainsaws every day at 1:00 p.m. Get up, get active and get your groove on with high energy performances by Tyler Boyle, Lori Hough and Erin McAndrew daily at 3:00 p.m. on the Living Water Celebration Stage on Simcoe Street.
The best way to see all the sculptures? Take a family wagon ride and see more than 25 stunning storytelling ice sculptures, each profiling our community’s history and its place in the building of Canada during the country’s 150th celebration.
New to the Festival is a 40-foot long double ice slide that will take riders on a frosty trip down Tremont Lane! Also new this year, HORIZON – A Visual Symphony of Canada, which will be shown daily from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the SESQUI 360 Film Dome at Central Park Arena.
If you’re looking for indoor activities, the Simcoe Street Theatre will be offering free films, concerts and theatre performances each day. The Library will be hosting the great activities that have become festival favourites like kids' craft centre, the imagination playground, toy testing station and story times.
Good news for the foodies at Winter Wonderland Village as local area restaurants have an exciting array of festive eats and treats including mulled wine and German sausage around a crackling fire, hot apple cider and southern cuisine with a local twist, wood-fired pizza, as well as festive treats, hot chocolate and seasonal lattes.
