Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding! The Town of Collingwood offers civil marriage ceremonies and issues marriage licenses.

Marriage Licenses

A marriage licence is required for all civil marriages in Ontario. For current information on requirements for marriage, please visit the Ontario Getting Married Page

Your marriage must be performed by an officiant who is authorized by the Province of Ontario. A list of authorized officiants can be found on the Ontario Officiant Database.

Applying for a Marriage Licence

Application forms can be picked up at Town Hall or can be downloaded online

Completed applications are required to be signed by both applicants and emailed to clerk@collingwood.ca or provided in person at Town Hall, 97 Hurontario Street, with two pieces of acceptable government-issued identification. Identification requirements are included below. If either party has been divorced in Canada, a scanned copy of the original or court-certified true copy of the Certificate of Divorce (Form 36B) or Decree Absolute is also required with the original reviewed at time of appointment. A divorce order (Form 25A) will not be accepted. 

After your signed application and supporting documents have been submitted, a member of the Clerk's Department will respond to your request and schedule an appointment. Appointments are available at the Town Hall, located at 97 Hurontario St.

Appointments are required for all marriage licences. Walk-ins will not be accepted. The appointment is to obtain your marriage licence only. 

Civil Marriage Ceremonies

Starting in May 2025, the Town of Collingwood will be offering civil marriage ceremonies in our Council Chambers (2nd Floor, 97 Hurontario Street, Collingwood) every Friday at 2:00 pm. Alternative time arrangements can be made upon request but, must be during regular business hours (8:30 am - 4:30 pm). 

Please note that a Marriage License is required for a civil marriage ceremony in the Province of Ontario.

Bookings for the ceremony are required to be made at least two weeks prior to the date of the ceremony. 

To confirm your ceremony date after using the booking page, please pay the civil marriage ceremony fee using the town's payment system. For more information, please visit the fees section.
