Swim Lessons

The Centennial Aquatic Centre is a proud Affiliate of the Lifesaving Society.  We offer programs for babies through to aquatic leadership.  The Swim for Life program stresses lots of in-water practice to develop solid swimming strokes and skills. Valuable Water Smart® education is incorporated throughout all levels of the program.  The Lifesaving Society provides a fun and challenging progression of lifesaving training programs. At the CAC we offer the Canadian Swim Patrol and the 3 Bronze medal awards that are designed for swimmers between 8 and 15 years of age. Our first aid certifications focus on the practical ABCs of lifesaving.

Bronze Cross and HIGH FIVE Principles of Health Child Development

This course begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as assistant lifeguards. Candidates strengthen and expand their lifesaving skills and begin to apply the principles and techniques of active surveillance in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross emphasizes the importance of teamwork and communication in preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for advanced training in the Society’s National Lifeguard and leadership certification programs.

The Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) equips front-line leaders (anyone working with children aged 4 to 12) with the tools to immediately enhance the quality of their programs. The training provides valuable information, resources, and techniques to ensure that each child's social, emotional, and cognitive needs are met.
