Parks & Facilities By-law
The Town of Collingwood has passed a by-law to regulate and promote responsible enjoyment and use of Parks and Facilities. For more information, please review the following:
A Barbecue (BBQ) is a portable or fixed device designed and intended solely for cooking good in the open air.
BBQs are only permitted in the designed area.
Do not leave them unattended.
Please ensure they are extinguished and any remaining embers are cold.
Dispose of charcoal or embers only in the safe bins designated for that purpose, and not in garbage containers.
Alcohol is not permitted in Collingwood’s parks, trails, beaches, or other public spaces.
Alcohol may only be consumed in licensed areas, such as restaurants and patios, or at approved special events with the appropriate permit from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).
Shade umbrellas and sunshades are permitted in designated areas. Please ensure they are safely secured, do not obstruct pathways or sightlines, and are used respectfully within shared public spaces.
Definitions Shade Umbrella: A portable umbrella designed to provide sun protection, typically anchored in sand or with a weighted base. Sunshade: A lightweight, open-sided shelter (such as a pop-up or canopy-style structure) intended to provide temporary relief from the sun.
Tents are not permitted in beaches and parks. This includes large pop-up or market-style tents (e.g., 10 x 10 structures).
Definitions Tent: A fully or partially enclosed structure made of fabric or similar material, supported by poles or a frame, and intended for shelter or extended use. Market-Style Tent (10 x 10): A large, framed canopy structure commonly used at markets or events, typically measuring 10 feet by 10 feet, with a solid roof and optional sidewalls.
Camping is not permitted at any park within the Town of Collingwood.
Please keep our parks clean and respect the environment.
Do not litter or leave any garbage or debris behind.
All garbage must be placed in the garbage containers provided or in a secured garbage bag placed beside garbage containers.
The Collingwood skateboard and BMX park is a public and family facility located in Heritage Park, on Second Street between High Street and Spruce Street.
Helmets must be worn at all times and all other safety equipment is encouraged
Smoking and the use of alcohol is prohibited
Refrain from the use of profanity
Please refrain from moving park equipment
Please refrain from littering
Skateboards, in-line skates, bikes and push scooters are welcome.
Parking
$10 per hour – Daily rate is $50
Fine for not paying is $100

Use the Hotspot Parking App; or
Scan the QR Code on the Hotspot parking signs and pay using a credit card; or
Use the parking meters located throughout the park.
Collingwood residents can register for up to two (2) free digital parking permits. If you have more than two vehicles, you can manage your active licence plates on HotSpot.
All non-residents of Collingwood are eligible to purchase a Non-Resident Permit.
Permits can be purchased through HotSpot in the “Purchase a Permit” section and no application is required.
Permits can also be purchased in person at Town Hall or the Centennial Aquatics Centre.
