Waterfront Parking

• The angled parking spaces adjacent to the playground are dedicated as resident only parking. These parking areas are available 7 days a week on a first come first served basis for Collingwood residents only with a valid resident parking permit. 
• Residents can park for free in any parking area at Sunset Point Park with a valid resident parking permit.
• Two parking spaces are reserved for short-term parking for customers of The Chipper (20 minute maximum).
• Visitors can park in any authorized parking areas other than lots signed for Residents Only 

• The parking lot adjacent to the tennis courts is reserved for Collingwood residents only.  This lot is available 7 days a week on a first come first served basis for Collingwood residents only with a valid resident parking permit. 
• On-street paid parking is available on both sides of Princeton Shores Blvd. between Hwy 26 W and Princeton Shores Boulevard for visitors.

Vehicles will be permitted to park in certain authorized areas along Heritage Drive, the gravel parking lot adjacent to the Collingwood Grain Elevators as well as the 20 or so parking spaces along the outer perimeter of the cul-de-sac at the north end of Heritage Drive 

• To ensure maximum operation of the Harbour Parking Lot, vehicles without boat trailers will be restricted to the authorized parking areas along the outer perimeter of the parking lot;
• The inner area of the Harbour Parking Lot will be limited to vehicles with boat trailers

Parking at waterfront locations is $10.00 per hour up to a maximum of $50.00 per day. Payment can be made in the HotSpot app, by scanning a QR code or using the parking meters available in Sunset Point Park or Millennium Point.

Paid parking is in effect 7 days a week at Sunset Point Park, Princeton Shores, Harbourlands Park and Millennium Park between the hours of 9:00 am to 9:00 pm and at the Collingwood Harbour from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. from the Friday before the Victoria Day holiday until Thanksgiving Holiday Monday.

No, paper/physical parking permits are not being issued, they are digital only.  Resident and Non-Resident parking permits are managed through the HotSpot application by registering your licence plate(s).  Once registered, our by-law staff will be able to determine if you have a valid parking permit for your vehicle based on your licence plate.

Individuals who either reside within the municipal boundaries or own property in their personal capacity (not as a corporation), are eligible for up to 2 free resident parking permits per property/household.

All non-residents and visitors are eligible to purchase a Non-Resident Permit for $125 for the season.  Permits can be purchased through HotSpot in the "Purchase a Permit" section and no application is required.  Permits can also be purchased in person at Town Hall or the Centennial Aquatics Centre Pool.

Your resident or non-resident parking permit allows you to park at the following locations:

• Any authorized lot or area at Sunset Point Park; Princeton Shores Park; Millennium Park and the Harbour.

The following lots/areas can only be used by Collingwood Residents with a valid Resident Permit:

• the 30 angled parking spaces adjacent to the playground at Sunset Point Park;
• the lot adjacent to the tennis courts off Princeton Shores Blvd.

A resident/non-resident parking permit is valid for the current calendar year only (May to October) when paid parking is in effect.

Individuals displaying a valid Accessible Parking Permit are permitted to park for free in all municipal paid parking locations but are required to abide by any time limits or restrictions that may apply to that location.

Individuals operating a vehicle to which a valid Ontario Veterans Licence Plate is registered and affixed may park for free in all municipal paid parking locations but are required to abide by any time limits or restrictions that may apply to that location.

No. Only residential property owners and tenants are eligible for a Resident Permit. 

If you don’t have access to a computer or cell phone and wish to obtain a parking permit, please call our customer service team for support at 705-445-1030, press 0 to speak with our Customer Service Ambassadors for assistance to manually register you over the phone.  Please have your licence plate numbers available to register.

Alternately, if we can't validate your residency over the phone, you can visit our customer service counter in person at Town Hall with your licence plate info and proof of residency to allow us to register on your behalf.

For non-resident permits, please visit Town Hall with your licence plate information and payment to be registered.

Once you have submitted your application and required documentation, we will process your parking pass request during regular business hours. Please allow up to 3-5 business days to process your request depending on service level demands, however most permits are approved within 1-2 business days.

Collingwood Residents: Once your application is approved, your permit(s) will be activated based on the 1 or 2 licence plates that you applied for.

Non-Resident Permits: permits can be purchased immediately in the HotSpot app.

Residents will be able to apply for up to 2 parking permits.  Registering for 2 permits means that you can park 2 vehicles at a time in the waterfront area.

Non-Residents will be able to purchase as many permits as requried at the cost of $125.00 each.

If there are additional vehicles being used in the household, you can add all vehicles to your HotSpot profile under Manage My Vehicles, and update the active licence plate information on the permit by logging into your HotSpot account. Consider this your online parking lot for all vehicles you plan to use for waterfront parking. When heading down to the waterfront simply log into your HotSpot account and change the active plate on your permit for the vehicle you plan to take that day. Think of it as virtually moving your permit from one vehicle to another.

If you have multiple vehicles listed, please ensure the correct licence plate is active on your HotSpot account before you park. 

No, you don't need to have your mobile device with you when you park.  Once you have registered online, on the app or with our customer service team, your permit is simply linked to your licence plate.  Our By-Law team has plate recognition software that they use to scan your plate and see if you have paid the daily rate or have a permit.  After your vehicle(s) are registered, you can simply drive to the waterfront, choose a valid parking spot and enjoy your visit.  Please always ensure the right licence plate is active on your permit based on the vehicle you are using for the day.

You should receive a submission confirmation email once you submit your application, as well as as approval or declined email once your application has been reviewed.  Its possible these emails have been caught by your spam or junk filters, so please check those folders.  You can also log back into the app to check your application status.

Applications are getting approved very quickly during regular business hours, so if you haven't received an email, please contact the Town of Collingwood customer service team at townhall@collingwood.ca or 705-445-1030, press 0.

Please provide one document to show your proof of residency.  The address shown in this document will determine your eligibility.  Eligible documents include: property tax statements, utility bills, driver's licence, residential tenancy agreement etc

To apply for a resident parking permit online through HotSpot, we require proof of residency as the permits are free to Collingwood residents only.  This proof can be a property tax statement, utility bill, driver’s licence, motor vehicle registration, or tenant rental/lease agreement.  Before you take a picture you can always block out any other information that you wish not to share if you choose, so long as we can see the name and address of the resident applying, along with the type of document being uploaded. 

If you don’t wish to take a picture of your document at all, our customer service team can also assist.  If you are a property owner, we would be able to validate you in person or over the phone with your tax roll details to confirm your residency.  If you are a tenant, you would be able to attend Town Hall with your ID for visual validation.  We would require a licence plate(s) to be provided to assign you a digital permit.

Once proof of residency is provided in any of these ways, documents are not saved.  They are used as a one time visual check to confirm residency and then the permit is granted. Photos are not kept by HotSpot or the Town.  As with all partner applications that we use, a requirement during the procurement process is that all information must be stored on servers located in Canada, this would be the same for HotSpot.  This would mean any uploaded files would be temporary saved (typically between 1-3 days) until the application is approved/declined.
