The Town of Collingwood is committed to building an inclusive, equitable, and accessible community where everyone feels valued, respected, and a sense of belonging. Our diversity strengthens who we are as a community.
Building an Inclusive Community

We are honoured to collaborate with the Unity Collective to build an inclusive Collingwood together. The Unity Collective welcomes and celebrates our diversity through unified and collective collaboration and action. The Town recognizes the importance of ongoing learning (and unlearning) to help build awareness and understanding of our diversity in cultural identity, race, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, ability, religion, age, and other diverse backgrounds that shape our life experiences.
Celebrating & Honoring our Diversity
As part of an ongoing commitment to celebrating and honouring the community's diversity, the Town of Collingwood is continuing its work on several important initiatives focused on inclusion, diversity, and ensuring everyone feels welcome, respected, and represented.
The Town of Collingwood stands against all forms of racism. Accepting that racism exists within our society and that it takes many shapes and forms, is an important first in order to take action. We must also work towards building greater understanding and awareness of Canada's history of colonialism, racism and oppression.
The non-legally binding working definition of antisemitism developed by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) states:
Antisemitism is a certain preception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.
In defining antisemitism the IHRA provides contemporary examples, distinguising between what is considered antisemetic versus what is being critical of a country. To learn more visit the IHRA Working definition of antisemitism.
