Temporary Service Disruption

  • Temporary Service Disruption - Tuesday, February 24: The Collingwood Museum will be closed to the public on Tuesday, February 24 for renovations. The Museum will reopen for regular hours of operation on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

The Collingwood Museum is currently undergoing some exciting updates, including washroom renovations and the creation of a new resource room to better serve our community.

Onsite washroom facilities will be reduced to one single-use washroom during the Collingwood Museum's Phase 1 Washroom and Resource Room Renovation Project. Please note that the accessible button to the washroom will not be operable, but staff are available to assist patrons as needed.

As well, please be advised that renovation work will continue during regular operating hours so construction noises may be heard during your visit.

Phase 1 is expected to finish mid-March at which time the new washrooms will be fully operational, and Phase 2 work on the new Resource Room will commence.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We can't wait to welcome you into our improved space!

Black History Month Flag

Black History Month

The Town of Collingwood recognizes February as Black History Month in Canada, a time to celebrate the contributions, leadership, and resilience of Black communities.

In honour of Collingwood's rich Black history, we invite you to take a journey back in time through the power of storytelling. Black History Month storyboards, on display in our gallery, share the history of Black community leaders and changemakers, documenting and illuminating the journeys, accomplishments, and challenges of Black settlers in Collingwood.

The storyboard project was made possible through the contributions of the Sheffield Park Black History and Cultural Museum, the Collingwood Museum, and members of the community.

Souvenirs of Shipbuilding Days

For more than a century, the Collingwood Shipyards shaped not only the waterfront, but the heart of the town itself. Once known as “the town with the ship at the end of the street,” the sounds of the yard were the rhythm of daily life. As one of Collingwood’s largest employers, the shipyards connected generations of families in a proud tradition that helped define the community’s identity for over 100 years.

This exhibit brings together souvenirs, gifts, and keepsakes that carried the shipyard spirit into homes near and far from glassware, commemorative calendars, postcards, buttons, and more. Some were tokens of appreciation from management; others, personal reminders of a life and legacy built along the shores of Georgian Bay. Each item offers a glimpse into the pride, resilience, and community spirit that defined Collingwood’s shipbuilding story.
