As part of implementing Collingwood’s Tourism Master Plan (TMP), the Town, in collaboration with Bannikin and RT07, has launched a Tourism Asset Survey for tourism-related business owners and operators and will be hosting an open house on November 4th and November 5th for anyone interested in learning more and providing feedback.

The TMP recommended action B 1.1 to “Create and maintain an inventory of tangible and intangible local and regional tourism assets”. The implementation of this action will help to have a clear understanding of Collingwood’s tourism asset make-up and its value proposition, as well as to inform future opportunities for tourism product and experience investment, and tourism marketing initiatives. As part of the implementation of this action, the following initiatives are taking place in the coming weeks:

About the Survey (for visitor-facing tourism businesses within Town of Collingwood)
The Town is creating an inventory of physical and non-physical local and regional tourism assets. The Town is working with Bannikin, which assisted in developing the Tourism Master Plan, to create this tool.

The business survey will help gather insights into the market readiness and accessibility of visitor-facing tourism businesses located within the municipality. This will help inform tourism marketing initiatives and provide insights into areas of support to better prepare for visitor arrivals.
Tourism-related business owners and operators in Collingwood who sell goods and services directly to visitors are invited to take part in the survey to share their insights. Some businesses may include, but are not limited to, accommodations, food and beverage establishments, transportation operators, retailers, etc.

The survey runs from Wednesday, October 15th, to Sunday, November 9th, at 11:59 p.m. The survey can be accessed online at this link. Hard copies are also available at the Business Development Centre at 105 Hurontario Street.

The survey consists of 19 questions and should take 5-10 minutes to complete.

About the Open House (for residents, industry members and other tourism stakeholders)
Further to the Tourism Business Survey, the Town will be hosting two in-person Tourism Asset Inventory Open Houses. You can choose to attend on Tuesday, November 4th, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., or Wednesday, November 5th, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in Council Chambers (97 Hurontario St). During this time, the Bannikin team will be showcasing preliminary insights on the make-up of Collingwood’s tourism assets. They will also seek to gather additional insights from Collingwood residents, industry members, tourism partners, representatives of community organizations, etc., to supplement the Tourism Asset Inventory and to gather perspectives on the values community members have towards the tourism assets in the Town of Collingwood.

The open house format means you can feel free to pass through the event at your convenience to learn more about the tourism asset inventory and share your insights and perspectives.

The Town strives to be inclusive to ensure residents can participate in discussions, engage in activities, obtain information, and provide feedback and opinions.
