
The Town of Collingwood is seeking up to three (3) interested representatives from the tourism industry or related sectors to sit on the Interim Board of Tourism Collingwood, a Municipal Services Corporation being established as the Eligible Tourism Entity to receive the promotional portion of the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) revenues.
The mandate of this board includes the promotion of tourism, including the development of tourism products in alignment with the Town’s Tourism Master Plan.
The purpose of this board is to promote tourism within the Town of Collingwood, with the following objectives:
- To develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies to attract tourists to the Town of Collingwood.
- To support and promote local attractions, events, festivals, and cultural initiatives.
- To enhance the visitor experience by collaborating with tourism-related businesses, local communities, and stakeholders.
- To develop, manage, and oversee tourism-related projects and initiatives that support the sustainable growth of the tourism industry.
- To foster partnerships and collaboration with regional, provincial, and national tourism organizations as appropriate.
Using the approved Business Case as guidance, the main responsibilities of the Interim Board will be to pass resolutions necessary to give effect to the articles of incorporation, approve corporate by-laws, review the funding/services/transfer payment agreement to be executed with the Town, and any other action required to provide oversight and critical decision-making to bring the Corporation to a complete stage of operation.
Ideally, the Town is seeking a cross-section of tourism representatives for appointment to the Interim Board, including general industry, attractions/events, accommodators, culinary, sector partners, and/or business operators.
Experience on boards or with governance of non-profit organizations is an asset. The total time commitment for the Interim Board appointment is up to 18 months.
The Interim Board of Directors shall not be remunerated but may be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred.
