The tiling work is now complete, and we are pleased to invite the public to the Grand Re-Opening of the pool at 451 Third Street, on Saturday, October 1st.

“On behalf of Council, I would like to thank the Ontario Government through the Ontario Trillium Foundation for the significant grant that allowed the Town of Collingwood to tile the Centennial Aquatic Centre Pool. Tiling the pool will allow us to reduce annual maintenance and offer a longer operational season, serving many residents and visitors to Collingwood through swimming lessons, lane swim, aqua therapy and more,” says Mayor Keith Hull.

“I am very pleased to see this significant investment by the Ontario Trillium Foundation to improve the Centennial Pool for the health and well being of our community,” says MPP Brian Saunderson.

Background
In 2013 the town of Collingwood covered the 54-year-old outdoor pool, as there was an urgent need for an indoor pool in the community.  The pool underwent some modifications at that time but was left as a concrete tank.  Since then, the concrete tank has been painted several times. Staff will be able to keep the pool cleaner and useable all year long, as tiling the pool will eliminate the need to close annually for cleaning or painting. It was noticed that overtime the paint flaked and created visibility issues for staff will be able to keep the pool cleaner and useable all year long, as tiling the pool will eliminate the need to close annually for cleaning or painting. Staff will now be able to keep the pool cleaner, with greater visibility, and useable all year long. Tiling the pool will eliminate the need to close annually for painting.

The Centennial Aquatics Centre is committed to preserving this space and ensuring that it remains accessible for many community activities throughout the year. Information about aquatics programs and pool rentals can be found at: https://www.collingwood.ca/aquatic-programs
