Join NVCA in partnership with the Escarpment Biosphere Conservancy and Wyldewood Cove Condo to remove invasive Phragmites from the coastal marshes.
Escarpment Biosphere Conservancy's Wyldewood Cove nature reserve is considered a Provincially Significant Wetland known as the Silver Creek Wetland Complex, and supports wildlife habitat, including those of endangered and threatened species. Location is 4 Cove Court, Collingwood.
Phragmites australis (European Common Reed) is an invasive perennial grass that is spreading rapidly throughout Ontario, causing severe impacts in our communities and ecosystems.
It forms dense stands that crowd out native vegetation, reduces biodiversity, and degrades wetland habitat. It also limits shoreline access, impeding recreational activities like swimming and boating.
