WHEREAS, Canadian municipalities have formed Sister City relationships with Japanese municipalities since 1963; and
WHEREAS, Katano, Japan and the Town of Collingwood became Sister Cities on November 3, 1981. Becoming the first Sister City for the Town of Collingwood; and
WHEREAS, Many friendships between citizens and organizations of the two communities have been formed and sustained; and
WHEREAS, In 2026 we celebrate the 45th anniversary of the formation of Katano-Collingwood Sister City Committee.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Mayor Yvonne Hamlin, Mayor of the Town of Collingwood,
DO HEREBY PROCLAIM November 3rd to 10th, 2026 as “Katano-Collingwood Sister City 45th Anniversary” in the Town of Collingwood.
