Municipal Elections Act, 1996 (s. 32) Nomination Period: May 1, 2026, through to August 21, 2026

Candidates interested in running for local offices (municipality and school board) in the 2026 Municipal Election must file a nomination form with the municipal clerk. Nominations will be accepted during the following dates and times at the Town Hall, 97 Hurontario Street, Collingwood:

  • May 1, 2026, through to August 20, 2026, during regular business hours (Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., excluding statutory holidays)
  • August 21, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Those wishing to submit a nomination are encouraged to set up an appointment ahead of time to ensure staff availability.

Town of Collingwood Council

  • Mayor (One Position)
  • Deputy Mayor (One Position)
  • Councillor (Seven Positions)

School Boards Trustee

  • English Public School Board
  • English Separate School Board 
  • French Public School Board 
  • French Separate School Board

Specific school boards will be published following the release of the School Board Determination/Distribution of Trustees Report.

All nomination forms must be submitted IN PERSON by the Candidate or the Candidate’s Agent during regular office hours at the Town Hall, accompanied by the prescribed nomination filing fee of $100.00 per office/school board or $200.00 for the office of Mayor, payable by debit, credit card, cash, certified cheque, or money order. All nominations are required to be endorsed by at least 25 persons eligible to vote at the time the endorsement is signed.

In the event there are an insufficient number of certified candidates to fill all positions available, nominations will be reopened for the vacant positions only on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and such additional nominations, if required, may be filed with the Clerk or designate at the Town Hall, 97 Hurontario Street, Collingwood.

Electors are hereby given notice that if a greater number of candidates are certified than are required to fill the said offices, voting places will be opened on the dates stated below for the purpose of voting. Electors will have the option to vote online or by paper ballot. 

  • Internet Voting: Electors will be able to cast a ballot anytime, anywhere from October 8, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. through to October 26, 2026 at 8:00 p.m.
  • Advanced Poll Dates (Paper Ballot): October 15, 22, and 25, 2026 (times of advanced polls to be determined)
  • Election Day: October 26, 2026, between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. (paper and internet)
