
WHEREAS, The York-Simcoe-Muskoka Branch of St. John Ambulance has been serving the community since 1941 and fulfilling their mission of enabling Canadians to improve their health, safety, and quality of life by providing training and community service; and
WHEREAS, St. John Ambulance is an integral part of the community, offering unique and innovative programs, including medical first response, disaster response, car seat installation clinics, health and safety related youth programs, and therapy dog services; and
WHEREAS, Today, in more than 300 communities across Canada, more than 10,000 St. John Ambulance volunteers provide over one million hours of community service per year. The financial contribution of St. John volunteers could be calculated in hundreds of millions of dollars. The contribution to safety of Canadians is immeasurable; and
NOW THEREFORE, I, Yvonne Hamlin, Mayor of the Town of Collingwood,
DO HEREBY PROCLAIM June 23rd to 29th as “St. John Ambulance Week” in the Town of Collingwood.
