Are you between the ages of 18 and 24 seeking an experience of a lifetime? The Town of Collingwood/ the Collingwood/ Katano Sister City Committee is excited to offer an extraordinary opportunity for local youth to participate in a cultural exchange trip to Katano, Japan, this fall.

This unique experience will include one or two Collingwood youth joining a group of approximately 22 participants for a two-week immersive adventure; all travel and accommodation expenses fully covered!

Why You Should Apply

  • Cultural Exchange: Stay with a Japanese host family for 5 nights and gain firsthand experience of Japanese daily life, customs, and traditions.
  • World Expo Experience: Represent Canada by participating in the Canadian Pavilion at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.
  • Explore Tokyo: Enjoy free time to discover Tokyo at your own pace; from temples and street food to modern marvels and vibrant neighborhoods.

Trip Details

  • Dates: September 27 to October 10, 2025
  • Cost to you: Just approximately $400 to cover personal expenses and any meals not included
  • Eligibility: Open to Collingwood residents aged 18–24 as of the trips departure date (September 27, 2025)

How to Apply

Submit your expression by completing the form, as well as one of the following:

  • A short essay (maximum 500 words), or
  • A short video essay (maximum 2 minutes)

Your entry should explain why you want to participate in this cultural exchange and what this opportunity means to you.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to grow, learn, and explore while representing your community on the international stage.
