Are you between the ages of 18 and 24 seeking an experience of a lifetime? The Town of Collingwood/ the Collingwood/ Katano Sister City Committee is excited to offer an extraordinary opportunity for local youth to participate in a cultural exchange trip to Katano, Japan, this fall.
This unique experience will include one or two Collingwood youth joining a group of approximately 22 participants for a two-week immersive adventure; all travel and accommodation expenses fully covered!
Why You Should Apply
- Cultural Exchange: Stay with a Japanese host family for 5 nights and gain firsthand experience of Japanese daily life, customs, and traditions.
- World Expo Experience: Represent Canada by participating in the Canadian Pavilion at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.
- Explore Tokyo: Enjoy free time to discover Tokyo at your own pace; from temples and street food to modern marvels and vibrant neighborhoods.
Trip Details
- Dates: September 27 to October 10, 2025
- Cost to you: Just approximately $400 to cover personal expenses and any meals not included
- Eligibility: Open to Collingwood residents aged 18–24 as of the trips departure date (September 27, 2025)

- A short essay (maximum 500 words), or
- A short video essay (maximum 2 minutes)
