
WHEREAS, Sepsis is a serious, life-threatening illness caused by the body’s overreaction to an existing infection that affects Canadians of all ages each year; and
WHEREAS, Early recognition and timely treatment of sepsis are critical to improving survival rates, reducing the burden on healthcare systems, and preventing long-term complications; and
WHEREAS, World Sepsis Day, observed on September 13th, serves as an opportunity to raise awareness, educate the public, healthcare professionals, and policymakers about the signs, symptoms, and preventive measures related to sepsis.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Yvonne Hamlin, Mayor of the Town of Collingwood,
DO HEREBY PROCLAIM September 13th, as “World Sepsis Day” in the Town of Collingwood.
