WHEREAS, PROBUS is a local, national, and international association of retired and semi-retired people who come together to meet others in similar circumstances, to make new friends, and to maintain and expand their interests; and
WHEREAS, The purpose of the PROBUS Club is to provide regular meetings, guest speakers, programs, and activities for its members; and
WHEREAS, Presently there are 10 active PROBUS clubs in the Town of Collingwood, with approximately 2,300 members; and
WHEREAS, PROBUS Clubs are strictly social clubs, that are non-political, non-sectarian, non-profit and non-charitable.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Yvonne Hamlin, Mayor of the Town of Collingwood,
DO HEREBY PROCLAIM October 1st, as “Probus Month” in the Town of Collingwood.
