Leadership and lifesaving courses are coming this August to the Centennial Aquatic Centre, and registration opens soon! These nationally recognized courses provide participants with the skills, knowledge, and certifications needed to begin the path toward lifeguarding and aquatic leadership opportunities.
Registration Dates
- Registration for Collingwood Residents: May 19, 2026, at 7:00 a.m.
- Registration for Non-Residents: May 20, 2026, at 7:00 a.m.

Bronze Medallion & Emergency First Aid (Basic First Aid with CPR-C as of June 22, 2026)
Session Dates: August 4 - 7, 2026*
Bronze Medallion challenges candidates both mentally and physically while developing the judgment, knowledge, skill, and fitness required for water rescue. Participants learn assessment and problem-solving skills needed to make safe decisions in, on, and around the water. Successful completion is the prerequisite for Bronze Cross.
Prerequisite: Must be 13 years of age by the end of the course OR have successfully completed Bronze Star.
Swim Requirement: 400m swim in 12 minutes or less.
Bronze Cross & Standard First Aid with CPR-C (Intermediate First Aid & CPR-C as of June 22, 2026)
Session Dates: August 10 - 14, 2026*
Bronze Cross begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as assistant lifeguards. Participants strengthen their lifesaving skills while learning the principles of active surveillance, teamwork, and emergency response in aquatic facilities.
The course also includes Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification, covering comprehensive first aid topics including spinal injuries, bone and joint injuries, medical emergencies, and more.
Prerequisite: Must be 13 years of age by the end of the course AND have successfully completed Bronze Medallion.
Swim Requirement: 400m swim in 11 minutes or less.
*Dates and times are subject to change. 100% attendance is required for all courses.

All program registrations are completed online. To help with a smooth registration experience, participants should:
- Create or log in to their PerfectMind account ahead of registration day
- Confirm that their home address is accurate and up-to-date
- Ensure that all family members are properly linked to the account
Residency status is determined by the address listed in the account. Accounts without a valid address will not be eligible to register during the resident registration period. The Town’s online registration system can be accessed through PerfectMind.
