WHEREAS, National Public Works Week (NPWW) is celebrated annually to recognize the significant impact of public works in our daily lives; and
WHEREAS, This year from May 18 to May 24, 2026, we honor the dedicated professionals who contribute to enhancing the quality of life in our communities; and;
WHEREAS, The theme of this year’s NPWW is “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community”. This acknowledges that the roots of service run deep in public works which have helped our communities evolve into places where people can lead lives of purpose and possibility.;
WHEREAS, Public Works professionals play a vital role in our communities by planning, building, managing and operating and maintaining essential infrastructure including road maintenance, wastewater services and many other essential infrastructure projects. Together these efforts form the foundation of thriving communities, reminding us that every project, seen or unseen, powers the connection between service delivery and the people it supports.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Yvonne Hamlin, Mayor of the Town of Collingwood,
DO HEREBY PROCLAIM the week of May 18th to 24th, 2026 as “National Public Works Week” in the Town of Collingwood. I invite and encourage residents to recognize and thank public works professionals for their dedication and invaluable contributions as they continue to provide vital services for our community.
