WHEREAS, National AccessAbility Week is recognized across Canada to promote accessibility, inclusion, and the contributions of persons with disabilities in our communities; and
WHEREAS, it is a time to recognize leadership in accessibility and to encourage ongoing efforts to identify, remove, and prevent barriers to access and inclusion; and
WHEREAS, approximately one in five Canadians lives with a disability, and accessibility is essential to creating vibrant, inclusive communities where everyone can participate fully; and
WHEREAS, National AccessAbility Week provides an opportunity to raise awareness, build understanding, and celebrate the progress made toward a barrier-free Canada; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Collingwood is committed to identifying, preventing, and removing barriers to accessibility in its programs, services, and public spaces; and
WHEREAS, we recognize the importance of working collaboratively with community partners, the Accessibility Advisory Committee, and residents, to advance accessibility and inclusion; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Collingwood is proud to support and celebrate National AccessAbility Week and is committed to fostering a barrier-free community where everyone can live, work, and play;
NOW THEREFORE, I, Yvonne Hamlin, Mayor of the Town of Collingwood,
DO HEREBY PROCLAIM May 31 to June 6, 2026, as “National AccessAbility Week” in the Town of Collingwood.
