
Who Can Vote?
Any person who on Election Day (October 26, 2026) meets the following qualifications is eligible to vote:
- Is a Canadian citizen.
- Is at least 18 years old on election day.
- Resides in Collingwood or is the owner or tenant of land in Collingwood, or the spouse of such a person.
- Any person not prohibited by law from voting.
Voters’ List Information
From September 1, 2026, to October 26, 2026, Electors may contact the Town of Collingwood, to confirm they are on the Voters’ List, amend their information, or be added to the Voters’ List.
An online tool is also available on the Town’s website for electors to confirm that they are on the Voters' List, register to be added to the Voters’ List or update their information.
Who Do I Vote For?
The Municipal and School Board Election provides for the election of Town of Collingwood Council representatives and School Board Trustees. In Collingwood, you will be provided the opportunity to vote for:
- Mayor (1) *this position also sits on the County of Simcoe Council
- Deputy Mayor (1)
- Councillor (7)
- School Board Trustee (1)
What School Board Do I Vote For?
Electors are entitled to vote in the school board election, if their qualifying property is residential. Each eligible elector may vote for school representation once in a school board jurisdiction. The following is a list of the School Boards for which qualified electors will be entitled to vote unless there are acclamations.
- English Public School Board: Simcoe County District School Board
- English Separate School Board: Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board – ACCLAIMED
- French Public School Board: Conseil scolaire Viamonde (must have French Language Education Rights)
- French Separate School Board: Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir (must have French Language Education Rights and be Roman Catholic)
How Do I Vote?
Voters can choose to cast their ballot by either:
- using any device that connects to the internet, including computers, tablets and smartphones, or
- by paper ballot available at polling locations.
What Do I Need to Vote?
Internet Voting: Voters need to have a Voter Information Letter in order to vote online. This will be mailed to you in October. This letter will have your instructions and your unique Personal Identification Number, required to log on to the internet election site to access your digital ballot.
Paper Ballot Voting: Voters are required to bring identification that contains both their name and Collingwood address, accompanied with their Voter Information Letter if one was received in the mail.
When Can I Vote?
Internet Voting – Advance Polls:
Cast a digital ballot anytime between Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. and Monday, October 26, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.
Paper Ballot Voting – Advance Polls:
Cast a paper ballot at the Collingwood Public Library, 55 Ste Marie Street, Collingwood.
- Thursday, October 15, 2026 between 4:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
- Thursday, October 22, 2026 between 4:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
- Sunday, October 25, 2026 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Election Day – October 26, 2026
- Internet Voting will continue to be available through to 8:00 p.m.
- Paper Ballot Voting: Collingwood Public Library, 55 Ste Marie Street, Collingwood from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
