The County of Simcoe is responsible for all garbage, recycling, and organic waste pick-up, in Collingwood and other municipalities within Simcoe County.

Pickup Dates:
Regular pick up for garbage, recycling, and organic waste by Simcoe County for the Town of Collingwood is MONDAYS (curbside by 7:00 AM)

NOTICE: Change is coming to restore consistency of curbside waste collection in the County of Simcoe
Starting February 3, 2020, garbage and recycling collection will occur on alternating weeks, while green bin collection will continue every week. 

During the week of February 3 to 7, residents will receive garbage and green bin collection only. The following week (February 10 to 14), residents will receive recycling and green bin collection only. Collections will alternate on this schedule moving forward. Collection days are not changing; however, collection times will be adjusted. Residents are reminded to have materials out to their curb by 7:00 AM on their regular collection day.

What this means starting February 3, 2020:

  • No change to your regular collection day. Collection times will change, so have your materials out by 7 a.m. on your collection day
  • Green bin collection will continue to occur every week
  • Garbage and recycling collection will alternate every other week (one week garbage the next week recycling)
  • Residents can set out two bags/containers of garbage every other week (weight and size restrictions still apply)
  • Recycling no longer needs to be separated into different bins.  Materials will be sorted later in the process
  • Excess recyclables can be placed in bins, cardboard boxes or see-through plastic bags

NOTICE: Curbside Collection for Multi-Unit Residences & Residences on Private Roads
As a result of increased requests for waste collection to multi-unit residences and residences on private roads, the County of Simcoe has implemented a program where owners or residents can apply for waste collection.

The requirements for waste collection of multi-unit residences & residences on private roads are set out in the Waste Collection Design Standard. The request form and Waste Collection Design Standard document are available to download below.

Simcoe County Collects - Mobile App
The County of Simcoe has unveiled a new waste management mobile application, Simcoe County Collects, to residents of Simcoe County. The new mobile app will provide residents with a one-stop location for all their waste collection needs and will feature:

  • Customized waste schedule 
  • Reminders via push notification for collection events and service impacts
  • New and improved Waste Wizard 
  • Directions to their closest Waste Facility
  • Reporting a problem with collection service
