South Georgian Bay Parkinson's Festival - Everyone is welcomed!!

Our guest speaker, Dr. Anthony Lang will be joining us and bring all of the latest and greatest information related to Parkinson's Disease.

Dr. Anthony Lang is the Director of the Edmond J. Safra Program in Parkinson’s Disease and will deliver the keynote speech at the 2025
South Georgian Bay Parkinson’s Festival.

On Sunday, June 22nd , 2025, Living Better with Parkinson’s is hosting the annual “South Georgian Bay Parkinson’s Festival” at the Beaver Valley Community Centre in Thornbury, Ontario from 10:00am – 2:00p.m.

“We are delighted to announce that Dr. Anthony Lang - Professor and
previous Director of the Division of Neurology at the University of Toronto – has agreed to deliver a keynote address at this year’s festival”, shares Catherine Smart, Executive Director of Living Better with Parkinson’s.

Dr. Lang holds the Jack Clark Chair for Parkinson’s Disease Research and the Lily Safra Chair in Movement Disorders.

He is the Director of the Edmond J. Safra Program in Parkinson’s Disease, the Rossy Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Program and the Morton and Gloria Shulman Movement Disorders Clinic, Toronto Western Hospital and the University of Toronto.

The purpose of the day is to bring together like-minded people from the South Georgian Bay region and beyond who are interested in sharing stories, learning, and meeting new people connected to the Parkinson’s community.

This festival is one of a kind supporting people living with Parkinson’s Disease in South Georgian Bay.

Over the next decade,1.5% to 2% of the population over 60 years will live with Parkinson’s Disease in North America. The South Georgian Bay (SGB) population is growing rapidly, and the demographics are aging as it attracts more residents to the area. In this decade, People with Parkinson’s (PWP) in SGB are expected to double.

Living Better with Parkinson’s – a grassroots organization committed to increasing the quality of life of people living with Parkinson’s Disease and their caregivers in South Georgian Bay. Promoting daily physical activity, advocacy and education are the primary pillars ensuring that LBWP mission is achieved.
